Thursday 12th April was an incredibly special day for the Thomas Hardie Group as our Apprentices graduated in style.
The graduation ceremony was held at an elaborate event at the McLaren Technology Centre – Surrey and was hosted by Volvo’s Training Manager, Adam Plastow and Volvo Trucks UK Managing Director, Robert Grozdanovski.
The Apprentices were accompanied by family members, their partners and also the Depot Business Managers; Phil Toutountzi, Simon Yates, Chris Hull, Sean Pinches, Chris Williams, Group HR and Pay Role Manager Lorraine Sandales and Directors Jim Murray and Mark Cunnew.
We’re incredibly proud of their achievements which is testament to their dedication and a determination to succeed! Inaugurated in 1995, the Volvo Apprentice Academy is recognised as one of the best and most advanced truck manufacturers’ apprentice programmes in the UK.
The future-is-bright for our highly talented and committed individuals who are mixing business awareness and commercial know-how with real passion.
Those who graduated are named below:
Dean Jones – Middlewich
Michael Lawrence – Liverpool
Ryan McNally – Preston
Toby Melin – Trafford Park
In addition, a Highest Vocational Achiever Award was presented to Michael Lawrence from Liverpool Depot for his passion towards the apprenticeship programme, along with his overall performance and results achieved.
All Apprentices were invited to travel to Warwick that evening for an overnight stay and an activity event the following day.
The awards ceremony concluded with a special gift from Volvo’s Managing Director, which saw ‘Highest Achiever’ Michael Lawrence receiving a VIP trip to Gothenburg later this year, this will enable him to experience first hand Volvo’s Headquarters, their Museum and allow him to test drive Volvo Trucks fully loaded from 60 tonnes to 150 tonnes around Volvo’s designated and highly impressive test and development track.
A memorable couple of days for our future stars, well-deserved too.
