Five Payload Friendly FM tractor units seal the deal for James booth (Bolton) Ltd.

Citing the payload-friendly unladen weight of the Volvo FM-450 equipped with the factory-fitted lightweight mid-lift axle, James Booth (Bolton) Ltd., has put five new trucks of this specification into service.

According to James Booth (Bolton) Ltd. General Manager Ian Baxendale, the Lancashire-based bulk haulage specialist, whose company motto ‘for cheerful service' is displayed prominently on its trailers, now operates 19 Volvo trucks out of a total fleet of 21 vehicles. James Booth (Bolton) Ltd.

The five new Volvo 6x2 tractor units, which were supplied by Thomas Hardie Commercials, were specified with Globetrotter cabs and the 11-litre D11K engine rated at 450hp (332 kW). Maximum torque of 2150 Nm is provided to the driver between 1000 and 1400 rpm. The truck's hydraulic ‘wet kits' were supplied and fitted by Thomas Hardie Vehicle Solutions at Chorley.

All the new trucks are on Volvo Gold Repair and Maintenance contracts, with work being carried out at Thomas Hardie Commercials, Trafford Park, Manchester. Annual mileage covered per truck is in the region of 115,000 kms.

The family-owned company, who have been operating Volvo trucks for around 15 years, transports a variety of bulk construction materials for its customers. The business is primarily focused on the M6, M62 corridors in North-West England, the Midlands and Yorkshire, with some deliveries as far afield as Kent and Wales. Rock salt is another product that is also transported on behalf of customers by the high profile, green and yellow Volvo artics.
